Villiruusu (Wild Rose)
Saturday: Michael Daves and Jacob Jolliff
Happy Thursday,
One of my favorite Finnish waltzes is ‘Villiruusu’. There is a photo of wild rose blossoms below. Probably not the same variety as they have back in Finland, but there are plenty of them here where I live, they are flowering now and they smell wonderful.
I wanted to call your attention to the concert and workshops on Saturday at CSMA. Michael Daves and Jacob Jolliff are two incredible bluegrass musicians you don’t want to miss. They will perform as a duo for the evening concert and individually teach workshops in the afternoon. Ticket links and details here. Direct ticket link here.
For Canaan concert followers, you might be interested to learn that Jacob Jolliff often plays in a quartet with support from Ross Martin and Myles Sloniker who were both just here at Canaan with Hilary Hawke. Small world acoustic trivia. We are lining up shows for the 2026 - 2027 concert season now. More Canaan music events: https://canaaninstitute.org/mikesmusicblog/events/
